Scratch Paintings

I started doing these little scenes like these a few years ago as part of The Postcard Project. I was originally inspired by paintings of set designs by Walter Röhrig that I had seen at the Haunted Screens exhibit at LACMA as well as other German Expressionist work. These combine characters found in historic photos and some famous early modern dancers (or in one case, me), collaged onto my very loosely drawn backgrounds.
They say that you should only show your best work. But what is the fun in that?
Behold, a repository for the many, many pieces that I have created in various different media. In no order whatsoever.
This is probably the closest I’ll ever come to doing a children’s book. Features Andy Warhol’s cats.
